Main Responsibilities
1) Commercial
§Lead Sappi selling efforts to Top 50 casters and major end merchants in China, communicating directly with them on an ongoing basis
§Maximize sales volumes at prices agreed with the Principal
§Sell required stock lot volumes as required by the mill
§Improve and optimize the sales revenue and mill contributions by product mix management
§Manage respective sales contracts and supply agreements where applicable
§Manage and audit agent’s performance where applicable
§Develop new customers for new products and patterns in line with the mill’s objectives
§Initiate product improvement ideas with the mill
§Initiate trials or other improved/experimental efforts
§Control fixed expenses to approved budget levels
§Conduct briefing to distributors sales teams on product offering and seasonal trend development compile by principal periodically

2) Customer Relationships
§Arrange regular customer meetings to maximise sales, discuss product development, logistics and product quality
§Co-ordinate visits of Sappi personnel into China and of customer visits to Westbrook mill
§Co-ordinate trade show activity with mill personnel, service providers and sales personnel including sourcing of show pieces, the creation of the china trend book and the allocation of manpower during the trade shows
§Represent Sappi at trade conferences where presentations are required
§Maintain good relationships with key customers in each market

3) Sales Administration
§Execute Group credit control procedures
§Follow up with customers and agents on any late or delayed payments
§Investigate, compile and prepare any quality or administrative delayed claims in conjunction with Westbrook mill / division personnel
§Compose all required sales reports as required
§Liaise with mill and USPC to ensure efficient and cost effective deliveries of product to the customer
§Propose streamlined business processes that will reduce costs and effort


4) Strategic
§Initiate product development projects for the mill where market opportunities exist
§Respond to commercial questions from the Principal
§Optimise the way the release business is conducted
§Re-assess sales strategy at any time to ensure products are launched to the market continuously and to keep growing market share

5) Market Intelligence
§Solicit, uncover and communicate potential profitable opportunities to Sappi
§Be an industry leader – improve market visibility and credibility of the Principal
§Collect and analyse market reports, customer visit reports, industry journals and import statistics to obtain an understanding of prevailing market conditions in China on a routine basis. Convey value adding market intelligence timeously to the Principal
